Early morning walk from coastal rice fields to Torōki Falls and then along the path to Senpiro Falls on Yakushima Island off the coast of Kagoshima, Japan. Yakushima has some amazing waterfalls. Many of them are hard to access, but there are a series of falls along the Taino River with nice and easily accessible view points. This morning we start in the rice fields at dawn and enjoy a relaxing walk to Torōki Falls as the sun rises. Well it was mostly relaxing. As we approach the falls, I noticed a group of monkeys in the trees who did not seem thrilled with my presence. Luckily they let us pass without incident, though getting out wasn't quite as smooth. From Torōki we make a jump up the mountain to the Senpiro Falls lookout and walk down to the bridge at its base. I also was able to get a few aerial views of Ryujin Falls in addition to Senpiro, to include all three major falls along the river.
