Walking at dawn through the quiet village of Oshino Hakkai, with views of snowcapped Mt. Fuji in the morning moonlight. Oshino is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a few traditional thatched roof buildings and 8 small ponds fed by water off the mountain. I was surprised to find snow still on the ground, I suppose the last gasps of winter. The moon and Fuji were such an amazing sight I ended up adjusting my planned route to walk through the center of the village multiple times and enjoy more mountain views as the sun rose and light changed. From there we walk through a small garden and then through a snowy rural neighborhood to the small shrine at Deguchi-ike Pond.
