HEY DARLIN' — A Sailor's Love Story Ruth and Jimmy grew up together on a quiet stretch of farm road — Their friendship became something deeper, sealed with a silver chain. Then the war came. He shipped out in his Navy blues, and she kept the porch light burning, answering every letter… until the December the telegram came instead. This is a story about the kind of love that doesn't end when the music stops. 🎵 The song "Hey Darlin'" is an original 1940s-style doo-wop ballad created for this film. 💡 INSPIRATION This piece was lovingly inspired by the storytelling of Avicii's "Hey Brother" (2013) — one of the most quietly devastating music videos ever made. Directed by Jesse Sternbaum and loosely based on Ron Franscell's novel Angel Fire, that video followed two brothers growing up in wartime America, ending with the heartbreaking reveal of a life lost and a flag folded. Its tender mix of childhood innocence, home-front warmth, and the cost of war moved me deeply — and "Hey Darlin'" is my own original tribute to that feeling, reimagined as a 1940s Pacific love story. All visuals and music here are original works; this is an homage, not affiliated with Avicii or his estate.
