"CHILDREN OF THE EARTH — CHAPTER 2: ROADKILL" Directed By Davide Bianca Davide writes: "I’m excited to share Chapter 2 of my ongoing original micro-series "Children Of The Earth", a follow up to the first chapter "The Warning", which served as an introduction to the lore and events unraveling in Moonlight Springs, OH. This new installment takes place on the outskirts of Moonlight Springs, unfolding during Awakening Day, when the quiet stillness of the forest gives way to something primal and unsettling. As I’ve mentioned before, this is a deeply personal project, one I’ll keep going back to, expanding on and refining over time. What began as a short has now evolved into a planned five-part micro-series, with Chapter 3 set to drop later this month around Halloween. "Children Of The Earth" is my personal take on the eco-horror and zombie genres, blending Native American lore and mythology with Midwestern Americana, and a heartfelt love letter to the places, landscapes and legends that shaped me during my most formative years, as well as a tribute to the films that inspired me as a storyteller and director. THE CRAFT & THE TOOLS The past few weeks have been a whirlwind in the generative AI space, unlocking more precision, control, and integration than ever before. For "RoadKill" all imagery was created using Midjourney V7 and BytePlus SeeDream, now offering near-total control of scene blocking and coverage with stunning consistency. Everything was upscaled in Freepik’s Magnific and then animated through motion workflows. For performance and dialogue, Google DeepMind’s Veo3 continues to be unmatched. I spent a good amount of time fine-tuning facial nuance and lip-sync — a small obsession of mine — to get performances that feel real and authentic, at least as far as today’s tools can achieve. Kling AI 2.5 Turbo was a revelation for complex camera work and non-human motion, bringing life to large-scale sequences and intricate creature animation. Sound design, as always, was hand-built from the ground up using a mix of Adobe Audition, @Logic Pro, and custom Foley recordings. I love crafting eerie, analog textures, those imperfect organic layers that make a horror world breathe. Editing was done in CapCut (my late-night horror companion), with select shots refined in Topaz Labs Astra, but I purposely wanted to retain a bit of noise, grain and analog look, especially when it comes to keeping motion blur and shallow depth of field, and a lot of of the action sequences which were carefully prompted to retain a bit of gritty, analog realism. This piece is, once again, a labor of passion and curiosity. I hope you get a kick out of it, and that you’ll stick around for the next chapters.
