In December 2024, astronomers spotted something alarming. An asteroid called 2024 YR4 had a real chance of hitting Earth in 2032. Planetary defense teams around the world jumped into action - NASA, ESA, and the entire international asteroid network. But there was a problem. The asteroid was tiny - about 200 feet across - and incredibly dim. It was 4 billion times fainter than the faintest star you can see with your own eyes. Only one telescope on Earth could see it: James Webb. What Webb discovered changed everything.
