The Sinking City 2 reviewed by Len Hafer on PC, also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
While a lot of the basic mechanics and moment-to-moment survival horror of The Sinking City 2 feel inescapably like off-brand Resident Evil, it's a praiseworthy imitation of its main inspirations. The story presentation shows the limitations of its production qualities at times, and I wish the detective elements were a bit more robust and challenging. But taking on imposing enemies in some truly inspired, detailed, and memorable environments while watching my resources dwindle reminded me of some of the best parts of this entire genre. Nobody really gets a happy ending in the Cthulhu mythos. But I was pretty satisfied with this latest, harrowing peek into its writhing innards.
