An early autumn walk along the Muko River and hike up a small mountain trail with colorful maple leaves in Takarazuka, Japan. I wasn't sure what sorts of fall colors to expect along the river, but luckily there were nice reds and oranges contrasting with the morning mist. We start just upriver from Takedao Station and make our way to the trailhead via the abandoned Fukuchiyama rail line. On the trail up the mountain we are treated to flowing streams, morning birdsong, colorful leaves, a small forest shrine, and an old castle site before reaching the top.
