Last week my adventurous heart yearned for a healthy slice of Urban exploration, so I headed into one of the best places in the country for it; Birmingham. Today though, rather than aim for one or two specific spots I decided to venture right through the city, from bottom to top, with a view to check out a number of spots that I'd been meaning to check out for a while. Some of them were going to be easy to enter, others were going to be almost impossible, and others I would accidentally discover along the way.
The overarching theme to the whole day would be the absolutely fascinating but unattainable Anchor nuclear bunker system. These cold war bunkers and their surrounding tunnels stretch for miles beneath the city centre and are basically the holy grail of urban exploration. Getting into them alone would be highly improbable and dangerous, but that's okay because unbeknown to your average brummie, their ventilation shafts and access points are dressed in clever disguises and hidden in plain sight across the city, and that alone is fascinating enough to keep this simple little man happy.
Finally, no day out with GeoWizard would be complete without a mini mission of some sort, and what was supposed to be a fairly simple crossing from one massive spooky graveyard to another, turned into an almighty palaver and a stern telling off...
