Nonalcoholic drinks SHOULD cost more. Here's why. 10 min A morning walk in light rain from Kifune Shrine, over Mt. Kurama via Kurama Temple and down to a small village by a river in the mountains of Kyoto, Japan. We start this morning at Kifune-jinja Rear Shrine and set off walking at dawn with lantern light along the Kibune River in light rain. A few traditional shops and inns sit beside the cascading river, as well as the iconic Kifune Shrine, which was uncrowded at this early hour. From there we cross Mt. Kurama to the small village on the other side of the mountain. Along way we pass numerous mountain shrines and temples, including Kurama-dera, with a monk at morning prayer. This is one of my favorite Kyoto walks, and the weather conditions were ideal with a mix of soft rain, mountain fog, and clearing skies.
