I noticed on a visit a couple years ago that there were a number of cherry trees along the canal path and made a mental note to return in spring when I had the chance. This morning there was a break in the rain and the birds were out singing with cherry blossoms in full bloom. The canal winds through this peaceful neighborhood on its way from Lake Biwa into Kyoto.
