Astronomers analyzing a mysterious, hyper-luminous "little red dot" have officially classified an entirely new type of cosmic object: a "black hole star." Officially named MoM-BH*-1, this ancient leviathan looks like a star, but its core is completely hollow of nuclear fusion. Instead, the object is powered entirely by a central, violently feeding black hole that is cocooned inside an impossibly dense envelope of pure hydrogen.
